Goalie Wars Tournament Rules

1v1 competition between goalkeepers
Each game is played with a 3-minute running clock
Each goalkeeper may have:
1 coach
Up to 6 ball handlers
Each goalkeeper is guaranteed at least 3 games

Game begins with a coin flip to determine first possession
Ball is restarted by the goalkeeper in possession
After a goal, play resumes with the opposing goalkeeper
If the ball goes out of play, possession is awarded to the goalkeeper who did not touch it last

Goalkeepers must remain in their defensive half when shooting
Goalkeepers cannot cross the halfway line to retrieve balls
Goalkeepers may:
Punt / drop kick
Throw / sling
Play from the ground
If a goalkeeper:
Mishandles forward → must reset to goal line
Mishandles backward → plays from that spot
Clean catches are played from the point of control
Goalkeepers have 6 seconds to distribute the ball

No player substitutions (individual competition)
Ball handlers may rotate as needed

Standard goalkeeper gear (gloves, shin guards, etc.)
Each player must bring 4 soccer balls (clearly marked)
Ball sizes:
Size 5 (U12+)
Size 4 (U11 and younger)
Only one ball in play at a time

Goal scored when the ball fully crosses the goal line
Each possession = one distribution attempt only
Game winner = the goalkeeper with the most goals
Tournament points:
Win = 3 points
Tie = 1 point
Loss = 0 points

Failure to report on time may result in a forfeit (at referee/tournament discretion)
Officials may terminate games for:
Safety concerns
Unsportsmanlike behavior
Rule violations

If tied during the game:
1-minute tiebreaker game
If still tied:
Golden goal (first goal wins)

Golden goal format applies
First goalkeeper to score advances

Not applicable (gameplay functions as continuous shootout-style play)

Enforced by game official
Officials have authority to:
Stop or terminate play
Remove players, coaches, or spectators for misconduct
Violent conduct or serious foul play may result in tournament expulsion.
Coaches, spectators, or team officials ejected must leave the area and may be suspended from the tournament.
Referees will not tolerate abusive behavior, profanity, or unsportsmanlike conduct.
Verbal abuse toward referees, staff, or volunteers may result in suspension/ejection.
No refunds for suspensions or ejections.
